New Board Members Elected
There was no drum roll, there was no confetti or parade, but the results of the 2011 Linn County Blues Society Board of Directors election are in, nonetheless. While it may not be national news, we are glad to have the election completed and grateful to the willing candidates for stepping forward to help. The annual Board of Directors election was held on Monday, October 3, 2011 during the monthly board meeting at the Best Western Longbranch in Marion. Thanks to our membership for their support of this dedicated crew.
Andy Dergo was elected to his first term as Vice-President of LCBS; congrats, Andy. Stephanie West was re-elected to fill the Office of Secretary, keeping track of our board meetings can be a daunting task. Kevin Cutsforth was re-elected as Membership Chair, leading the challenge to help us retain our current members while seeking new members to re-invigorate us. Greg West was selected to continue as the Entertainment Chair, looking to continue our excellent record of high quality Blues artists for Bluesmore and other LCBS shows. Phil Smith joins our ranks as our new Merchandise Chair, thanks and best of luck to Phil. Bill Meeks continues on the Board as a re-elected Director-At-Large Board member rounding out our newly elected 2012 – 2014 Board of Directors.
These newly elected Officers join the other current Board members who all have a year left on their terms: Frank Wilson, President; Sue Dergo, Treasurer; and Janet Evans and Bob DeForest as Directors-At-Large, to complete your current Board of Directors. The Education Chair position on the Board is currently vacant and we are seeking interested, qualified candidates to fill that position.
Please congratulate all these hard working individuals when you see them out and about. They generously volunteer their time and talents to help keep the Blues alive in Linn County; somebody HAD to do it!
There are other duties within the LCBS that we always seem to need help with. If you are interested in volunteering to work on events, in Blues Education, in PR and promotions, on the Bluespaper writing articles, taking photos or delivering newsletters; we have a number of openings for you. Please contact any board member to express your interest; their email contact information is listed on our website at www.lcbs.org. WE NEED YOUR HELP!
